I am really getting excited about the end of the year!

This is the time of the year that I can take a deep breath & stop stressing about getting everyone on grade level! 

Now the fun stuff can begin!!

I love to end the year with fun themes like dinosaurs, beach fun, transportation, etc!

I just finished the beach math unit that goes along with the beach literacy unit that I posted earlier this month!

I am trying to create little collages of my stuff, but I am not nearly as crafty as some of my bloggy friends!

I think that my absolute favorite thing to make is a kindergarten memory book.

Last year I created one that turned out waaaaayyy cuter than I expected! 
It turned out to be one of my best all-time sellers on TpT!!

Back to Business!

Well~ I am rested, relaxed, & refreshed to get back to school tomorrow after my 2 week spring break! 

I have a lot on my plate & I think I am ready for the challenge! 

As I mentioned before, I will spend pretty much all of tomorrow reteaching rules, expectations, procedures...

I know that it will be a pretty good day because these kiddos will be tired & not quite back up to full speed yet!

Anyway~ I thought I would share this little sheet that I will be teaching them how to do this week during guided reading. After I teach it I will move it into a center. 

I taught them how to do this sheet when we were talking about retelling...

I know that they are nothing fancy or spectacular but sometimes you just don't need all the glitz & glamour! You just need to get down to basics & make sure they know what they need to know! 

You know what I mean?!!

That's a lot of "knows". Haha!

Here's the Plan- Part 2 & a Winner!

So yesterday I showed you a few of the literacy centers that I am planning for next week.

I thought that it would be a good idea to show you the math centers that we will have, too. 

Aren't you just so lucky?!!

My kiddos love to count & color so this will be a nice activity to ease them back into our math routine. (It is in my ladybug math packet if you're interested). I love those wonky-looking ladybugs! They are just so quirky! :)

We are going to be measuring & comparing heights of frogs with those cute fly rulers.

We are going to match & order the bugs in this center. I just love those cute bugs!

My class needs some counting on practice (they don't quite get it yet...even though we practice it A LOT) so we are going to be working on it with this cute activity!

Here's the Plan...and a Little Something for You!

Well, as my spring break winds down I have been thinking about what I'm going to be teaching when I get back. 

Being away for 17 days means that I will have to spend the entire 1st day back reviewing routines, rules, procedures, & expectations...definitely one of the downsides of year round schools...yes, we get the nice long breaks, but it's like the first day of school all over again! 

Anyway...I am going to be teaching BUGS! Yay!

Here are some of my literacy centers:

ABC order using beginning sounds. My kids ROCK at this~ so, when they get finished they write the words down on plain paper. I thought this would be a review to get them back in the swing of it!

These sentence building centers have really improved my students' writing. They are seriously transferring these center skills into their writers workshop pieces. LOVE that!! 

Don't all kindergartners have trouble hearing those vowels in the middle? This is a little middle sounds sort that you can grab for free here (it has been updated & looks way cuter than the one in the pic). 

Go get it for FREE!!

This is from one of my very faves Kathleen at Growing Kinders. I found the cutie pie magnifying glasses at Target in the dollar spot! Holy cow! 

My kids are going to LOVE them!!

I work in a year round school & I'm telling you these long breaks are what makes the school year glide by!

I will be sad this July when I am starting school & all of you are still being lazy beach bums...so we're even! :)

I have been busy & using my time wisely. I updated some of my the first units (read about that here) that I created & I managed to crank out this unit...

I am totally thinking of the end of the year...can you tell?!?

I am working on the math packet to go along with this lit unit. 

Then...I'm not sure what I am going to make.

Pets? Farm? Zoo?...any suggestions???

I was looking back at some of the units that I made when I was just getting started. I must admit that I was a little embarrassed at my rookie unit making abilities. These units looked a little on the "plain Jane" side so I jazzed them up a bit. I even added some new activities to some of them. If you have purchased these units please go back & re-download them.
