Powerpoint Question...

I am getting so frustrated with my Powerpoint! I have the 2010 version & it will NOT install any of my fonts...argh! When I click install I keep getting an error message that says invalid font type. What?!?
Does anyone have the trick to fix this? I have searched for the answer online only to come up empty...*sigh*.
I do not need to know how to install, I just need to know why the fonts won't install & how to get them on there?! Is anyone else having this problem? Please tell me I am not the only one :(.
Super Bummed! :(

Off and running....

Here are a few pics of my newbies in action...
Disclaimer: We have been in school for a month! This is not something that I would do in my first week or 2 back :)! I didn't want you all to think I am crazy...ha!!

This is a write the room activity. They find the pictures in the room & write the words on their paper.

This is a math mat activity from our math program. These little beauties hit a ton of the CCSS objectives!

This is a letter stamping (ABC) work station. I got the activity sheets from Mrs. Miners Monkey Business . They have been awesome!

This is one of my guided reading groups. We made & read our fun little fold books (you can kinda see it on the top right), then we practiced writing our new magic words. They love those white boards!! This little guy has pretty good penmanship for only being in school for 4 weeks!!

This is the foldie that they worked on in my group. Inside the text was I _____ pencils, books, scissors...They had to write "see" on the lines and then go back & reread the book. They must've read the thing 10 times because they were so excited that they could actually read it! So cute!

This one is a little I Spy center where they look at the bus pic with the magnifying glass to find the hidden letters. Then, they record the letters in the boxes on the sheet. I got the bus picture from here. They are from A Differentiated Kindergarten but the freebie link is in the post by Mrs. Miner. The kids love using those magnifying glasses!

Ok, that's all I have for ya! My class is so cute this year & they all seem to be pretty excited about learning...Yay!! I hope that everyone has a smooth start to their year!!

Fun With Fold Books!

These ABC cut & paste pages have been great for our phonics warm ups. Plus, the kiddos need all the cutting practice that I can give them!!

PBIS anyone?

I need help from those of you that use PBIS in your schools. We are just beginning to implement this program and I am really curious how you introduce it to your kindergarteners. I know so little about it that I am just not sure where to begin. I did use the A Day A Monster Went to School story, and we talked about which behaviors were above the line & below the line. I also made a bulletin board where we put pictures above/below the line according to the behaviors. My problem is how to make this visible & meaningful to my students. We are supposed to have a card on their desks where we keep track of their behaviors & document them with letters that go above/below the line. For example, I may see that you are showing respect & then would ask you to put an "R" above the line. This will be meaningless to my kinders in the beginning of the year...So, how do you all do it? Can anyone share their suggestions with me??!! Please help!!

Product Swap!

MrsStanfordsClass
Holy Cow! What fun this has been! I am so thrilled that Jessica from Mrs. Stanford's Class put this event together for us. I was extremely lucky to get paired with the awesomely talented Caitlin from
Kindergarten Smiles
Her blog has been one of my favorites for a LLOOOOONNNGGG time! If you haven't been there you are missing out!
Anyway~ I picked this unit to review for you...

Monsters! Back to School Activity Pack

This unit is based on the story A Day A Monster Went To School. I love to use this story the first week of school to set up the rules & expectations for my classroom. If you haven't heard it, Caitlin has included it in this unit!

This unit is SERIOUSLY packed with EVERYTHING that you will need to kick off your first week back. I know, because this has been my first week back & my kids are LOVING all of the MONSTER fun!
Caitlin has included a morning coloring sheet to start each day. Can I tell you that these have been my saving grace this week?!! My kids come in & know exactly what to do so that I can deal with paperwork, parents, transportation, cryers, and other things that have popped up when the students are arriving this crazy first week back!

There are 2 "I have, who has" games, one for letters & one for numbers. These are awesome!

This little monster book has been fun for my kiddos. It is great for sight words, pattern text, color words, etc. Look at what a great job they are doing with it!

They are so excited because they can really read it -after they figure out the pattern :)!

This is one of the awesome math activities included in the packet. Totally appropriate for kinders & right in line with the Common Core. The kids loved it!

I ALWAYS stress the glue procedures in my class! I hate gloppy glue! This packet has a great little glue song & a monster to dot the glue on! Another winner!!

These letter cards come with 3 different letter activities. These are great for differentiation, too!

This unit is JAM-PACKED with great activities here are some of the others that are included:
~A monster rules bubble map activity
~A great, hands on, kid made rule book (we are currently in the middle of making this- it is turning out SUPER cute)!
~Upper & lowercase cards for a variety of activities.
~A monster patterning activity
~Roll & cover monster math activity
~A "monster" write the room activity
~The cutest "getting to know you" Monster glyphs!
~Letter m upper & lowercase sorting activity.

WHEW!! I'm telling you this unit is FULL of fabulous activities that will get you through that crazy first week of school! It is all in line with the Common Core & totally appropriate for those beginning learners! Go to Caitlin's TpT store & grab this unit! You will NOT be disappointed!! Thank you, Caitlin for swapping with me! :)

**sorry that I'm a little late posting, I have been at school all day & I realized when I got home that my scheduled post did not take place...:( **
