Calling All Crafty, Decorating Friends...

Hi Bloggy Friends!
Do you remember my post about my craft disability? If not, you can read about it here. Well, along with my inability to be crafty comes my inability to decorate! I simply do not have an eye for it. I know what looks good when I see it, but I am not able to put patterns & cute stuff together on my own. I'm a copycat decorator :0! If I see it in a magazine, on tv, etc, I can put it together & know that it looks good. Alas, I am very inept at creating things on my own aside from very basic things. Anyway...I am in desperate need of new work station signs & pocket chart cards for my class. I found the CUTEST zebras from Scrappin' Doodles & I knew that they would make the most awesome station signs EVER!
Here is where you come in...I need your decorative eye to tell me if they look as awesome as I think they do! :)

Question 1: I'm pretty sure that I love the polkadot border, but is it too much? Keep in mind that they will be cut apart (duh) & separated in a pocket chart. Then, I will have the big sign that matches each card posted at the station. I just LOVE these zebras!! Tell me what you think...

Question 2: If I go this route...how should my bulletin boards be done? What color paper? Border? Etc...

I know that this is probably a no-brainer for you smarty pants, crafty, decorating teachers, but I have admitted to you my fault!

I PROMISE that I do tons of crafty stuff in my classroom with my kiddos! They are in no way craft/art deprived. For some reason, I have an easy time coming up with cute stuff to do with them!?!?!

Ok~ let me know what you think & any tips or suggestions that you have...
What else can I do in my classroom to enhance my cute zebras??

Thank you soooooo much for your advice!!! :)

Pretty Darn Proud of Myself! :)

Let me just start by saying that I am the least crafty person on the PLANET! No, seriously, the LEAST crafty person!! So, I was scared to start this little project because I am craft-challenged. I have long been an admirer of all the cute pennant banners & pined for one of my very own...ok, enough of the sappy story. Well, when I found what looked to be an easy peasy, no-sew tutorial, I took a deep breath & decided to just go for it. I headed over to Wal-Mart ~I was NOT going to put a lot of $$$ into this because of my craft disability.

I bought all of this~
(and the picture flipped itself! Ha!)

I made one of these templates~

I cut a bunch of these~
(and the picture loaded upside down)

I laid out my ribbon and the Heat & Bond and ironed it down~

I laid my pennants (upside down) on top of the ribbon & ironed them down~

THEN...drumroll, please...
VOILA!! I did it!!

I'm soooo stinkin' proud of myself I can't stand it! Seriously~ I DO NOT DO CRAFTS~ so this is a huge accomplishment for me! Yay me! I'm not sure if I am crazy about the patterns on the pennants...but, like I said earlier, I didn't want to invest a lot of dough into this project, so I bought some cheap "Fat Quarters" fabric from Wal-Mart. The whole banner cost me right at $10! Woo hoo! Ok, I'll stop all this ruckus now!!

Here are some other projects that I am considering taking the plunge & trying...

I want to make colorful poms to hang over my student tables.

Teacher Organizer

I would love to make a supply organizer in the hopes that I can get rid of my teacher desk soon.

I love this !

Again, this little organizer will help me get rid of that pesky desk!

filing cabinet makeover

I would love to jazz up my boring, tan colored filing cabinet with something cute like this one!

OK~
I think I can hear all of you laughing at me...I know that these crafts seem simple, but I cannot express to you enough that I am craft-challenged!! Keep your fingers crossed for me!!

Have a great day everyone!!

Handwriting Font Question

Hi Blog Friends!
One of the things that I want to work on in my classroom next year is handwriting. We do have a little handwriting program, but it is a tad boring for the kids. I want to make some stuff on my own that my kids will like...Here's where you come in...

I have looked everywhere for some handwriting fonts that have dots or dashes to trace and I also want the bubble font that the kids can trace inside of to practice the letter. Does anyone know where I can get these fonts? PLEASE HELP! I promise that I will share the stuff I make! :)

My Sincere Apologies!

Hi Friends!
I am linking up with Mrs. Stanford's Class Blog for this linky...
Comment-a-holic

It seems a consensus that EVERYONE'S bloggy  pet peeve is the word verifier that you have to complete before leaving your comment on posts! I had NO IDEA that my blog was guilty of this very pet peeve!! I am so, so, so, sorry to all of you that have commented & have had to go through that junk! I don't care if you are a robot, robots are my friends! Haha! Needless to say, I have removed that pesky little feature from my comments! YAY! So, go ahead...comment your hearts out!!

One of my other pet peeves is when the font on blogs is so tiny that I can barely read it! I refuse to grow old & admit that my vision is not the super-hero strength that it used to be in my younger days! I will not succumb to glasses...not yet!  :)

What are your blog world pet peeves?? Link up so I can see what else I am doing that bugs you! Heehee!!

Ahhhhh...Summer!

Yay! Cum folders are done, room is packed, keys are turned in, & I am ready for summer to begin! Woo hoo! I have a REALLY short summer break (5 weeks) because I am a year rounder~ Yes, I love teaching year round~ BUT, I will be heading back to school at the end of July (yikes)! In retrospect, it seems silly to pack everything up when I will be coming right back...well, whatever!

So, look what came in the mail today...
Yippie! I can't wait to start this book study hosted by Live, Love, Laugh Everyday in Kindergarten. I have never done the Daily 5 with my class & am completely in the dark about all things Daily 5! I am particularly psyched because it is just for KINDERGARTEN..woot, woot! Come & join us!! It will be awesome!

Cuh-razy week!

Hi Everyone!! I am so sorry that I have been M.I.A. this week. I am going out of my mind trying to practice for kindergarten graduation, finalize report cards, straighten up my room, answer tons of notes & calls from parents...the list goes on..

Anyway~ My student's last day is tomorrow, but it doesn't end there because on Friday we start testing the rising kindergarten kiddies. At least I will have my tentative class list before I leave school on Tuesday. I will be so happy when my summer can officially start!! :)

Sooo, I am getting sooo stinkin' close to 200 followers & I have no idea what I can do for all of you fabulous folks! If anyone has suggestions please shoot them my way!!
