Whatcha Teachin'?

I was wondering what everyone is teaching this week for science. I am sick of done with teaching about winter & winter animals...

I just don't know what I want to teach this week...
Any good ideas??

While we're on the subject, I was wondering if you integrate science into other areas or if you have a time in your schedule that is dedicated to teaching science (& social studies). At my school we have block scheduling & we have a specific block of time that is set aside to teach either science or social studies. I usually rotate between the two on a weekly basis. I was just curious how other schools get it all in! :)

By the way... Here is the answer to many of your emails! Yes, I have the March math journals ready for you...click the pic to take you to them! Thank you for liking them so much!!!
I had no idea that I would get such a HUGE response to these!
They are all aligned to the common core~ sorry, no patterns...if it's not in the CCSS we are not allowed to teach it at my school.
Enjoy!! :)

I would LOVE for you to pin them for me! <3

Have a great weekend!!

A Little of This & A Little of That

Hi everybody!!
I'm sorry for the lack of posts this week, but the winter ick has found its way to my house. I had a sick teenager & a sick toddler...yuck!
Now, I think that everyone is back on the mend...knock on wood!
This post will be a little on the random side, so I hope that you can hang with it! :)

Here are some cute little winter activities that my kidlettes made to spruce up the room. We were kinda bare from taking down all the Christmas & holiday stuff!
We read all about snowflakes & I showed them how to fold the paper & cut shapes to make their own. We talked about the differences that we found in each other's flakes. You can't tell, but we added a little glitter so that they would be sparkly! We LOVE glitter!!

Then, we made mittens & wrote about them. This one says:
My mitten is red.
My mitten has stars.
My mitten is big.
They did such a cute job on these!!

Here's a pic of some of our mittens. They love to read these for Read the Room.
We also painted & wrote about snowmen. This one says:
My snowman has a scarf.
My snowman has a carrot nose.

I am really pleased with the growth that magically happened to my kidlettes over the break ~we were out for 3 weeks!

Ok~ Here are a couple of cute MLK Day writings that they did. I was so pleased with how they turned out.

AND...HOLD THE PHONE... LOOK what I found this weekend!!
What????
Valentine Scentos!!
You know how I love them!!

BUT WAIT>>> check this out!!
They make BINGO dotters now!!
I am so excited to let my kidlettes use them with a roll & dot math activity!
How much fun are these little cuties!?!?

Well, looky here...a cute little roll & dot math activity!
Just click the pic to grab one of your very own!!

Ok, I hope that you were able to hang with me through this mashed up post!

MLK Week!

Hi Friends!
I know that, like me,  many of you will be teaching about Martin Luther King, Jr this week. So.....
Yesterday I made a little MLK packet that you can use with your own teaching of Martin Luther King, Jr.
It has 5 activities that are just "print & go".
Let me just say that they are not meant to teach about MLK, they are just MLK themed.
Celebrate MLK Day!! (a supplemental packet)
Click the pic to see it in my TpT store

Best of all, it's only $1!!
Go check it out & let me know what you think!! There are pictures of some of the pages in the thumbnails.

**Please pin it for me!! :)**

I really want to do some type of craft with my kiddos for MLK, but I can't find something cute & simple. Any suggestions?? Links??

**Leave a comment about what creative things you are doing for MLK with your email if you want to win a copy!!**

This time I had a most awesome swap partner!! Her name is Angela & she has a TERRIFIC blog called
The Daily Alphabet

Ya'll, she makes some SERIOUSLY super stuff!! If you don't follow her blog...go there & check it out!

Wait~ don't go yet...read this post first! :)

The product that I was so lucky to get to review was her
A Winter Wonderland: Literacy and Math Activities

I kid you not when I tell you that this unit is LOADED with perfect winter themed math & literacy activities! I am not kidding when I tell you that EVERYTHING in this unit is GREAT for kindergarten! I tested each activity & my students really had a great time with all of them! There is not 1 thing in this unit that I would not use in my classroom!!

Here are some pics of the awesomeness...

These are some of the literacy center activities:

This is one of my faves. It is a beginning sounds sort for the letters in Winter. There are tons of pictures for the kiddos to sort! After they sort, they choose their favorite picture from each letter & draw a picture on the recording sheet.

This is a syllable sorting center. Again, there are lots of different pictures for the kids to use so they get lots of good practice! After everything is sorted they choose some of the pictures & try to write the words on the recording sheet.

I LOVE this one! The graphics are so cute & there are soooo many ways that this center can be used & differentiated. Some of the ways are...upper/lower matching, upper to picture, lower to picture, use all the cards, use targeted letters, etc.... very versatile!!
In this center they stretch out the word card & then find the matching picture card. There are a BUNCH of these! There are CVC words & CVCC words for them to work with. After sorting, they will write the words on the recording sheet.

Winter Roll A Sound...who doesn't love "rolling" centers?!? Here they have to roll the cube, determine the beginning sound & record it on the sheet. Great beginning sound & handwriting practice...win/win!

Now...how about some math???

Here the kids will choose a card from the stack, they will spin the spinner & either add or subtract one from the number on the card. Then, they will write that number on the train & record the numbers before & after that number. LOTS of skills are getting touched in this center!!

In this center they choose a candy strip & they have to figure out which tens frame is missing from the middle. After they have matched all the tens frames to the strips, they record some of their findings. Very cute center!!

Yay!! Another "Rolling" center! There are 2 different levels of this center so that you can differentiate for your students! My students love to use these cutie-patootie cubes that are included with this unit!!

Angela also included these great sheets! They go all the way up to 20 & I have been using them for morning work and homework. My kids have been doing great with them!!

But, wait...that's not all!! She has also included centers for Real & Nonsense words & an addition/subtraction sort...my kids weren't ready for these, so I don't have the pics for them yet!

So....do you wanna win it????

I knew you would!

Pop over to Angela's blog & enter to win this AWESOMENESS!!
You can also see the product that she reviewed from me... AND you can WIN it too!!!!!

Double Whammy!!

Go there...check it out!!!
