What's gonna work?
Can you hear the Wonderpets Theme in your head? I know that the parents of littles know that tune!

One of my goals this year is to get my kids working in teams without me delegating the duties.
They have to figure out how to cooperate, work together, & solve the problem.
I gave the teams a mixed up sentence. They had to cut it, order it, punctuate it, & illustrate it in their teams.
The only direction that I gave was that EACH member had to participate until the project was completed.

They LOVED it! Each group figured out their sentence (I gave some pretty tough ones) & they punctuated & illustrated.
I heard some really great discussions about why they were doing things the way they were doing them & they all GOT ALONG! That was the kicker...nobody did any bickering...they were all kind to one another!! Whew!!
Score one for Mrs. E!!
Anyway~ just thought I'd share that for any of you that are thinking of learning teams!
Hope it was helpful!!
Happy Hump Day!!

Been Missing Me?

Hello friends!!
I am so sorry that I have been away from my little blog this week!
Did you leave me for someone else??
I hope not!!
I have been busting my tail with this...

First grade is challenging!!
We are in it to win it & I hit the ground running with this group!
I feel like a beginning teacher in that I haven't started first grade in a while & I was driving myself crazy with where to begin, what to do, how to do it, etc...
So I did a lot of crazy stuff~ like this~
They were getting their supplies out soooooo slow. So, to speed things along I had them stand in their chairs when they were ready to learn. That got things moving a little quicker! Ha!

I know that this week will go MUCH smoother because I feel like I'm getting in the groove of it now!
I hope to post more this week so please don't jump ship just yet!!

I'm almost at 400 Bloglovin' followers...
can anyone help a girl out & follow me? :)

Some Pinteresting Stuff...Back to School Ideas

I love, and I know you do to, Pinterest!

Here are some really great ideas that I am thinking of using this year in my class.

{Click the pics to take you to the original sources}

Is this not the greatest, most positive & motivating idea ever?
A Pat On The this idea!

How about this one? There is always a student or two that has all the answers anyway! :)
This will cut down on my small group distractions!!

Neat Idea! One student is selected to be the "Ask Me" person (to help students who need assistance) while the teacher works with small groups-no disruptions for the teacher!!!
I love the mystery walker idea. Pull a chip with a student's name on it before leaving the room- don't tell whose name is on the chip until you get back to the room. This way all the students follow the hallway rules because they think their name is on the chip. When you come back into the room, if the person on the chip followed the hallway rules, they get rewarded.
FUN Hallway Behavior Management Idea. Before you leave the classroom pick a chip with a students name but don't tell who it is. They are the mystery walker and you are watching that student the entire time. If they do a good job in the hall, they get a ticket or prize.

I keep threatening my husband that I am getting him this for his birthday...ha!

OK~ last one...
Random acts of positivity!
The kids would love this & it is so simple!!
High five notes. Good idea!

That's it for now!
I am headed back to school tomorrow!
I am super excited...probably won't sleep tonight!!
Is anyone else crazy like that?? Please tell me that I am not the only one!!
I will try to post tomorrow if I'm not too worn out!! :)

Cranking It Out!! & a SURPRISE?!?

 Happy Summer to everyone!

I cannot believe that I go back to school 2 WEEKS from TODAY!!

As many of you know, I am looping this year with my class to 1st grade!

I am very excited about it & I have been making lots of stuff to use when I get there.

I made this literacy pack to start us off with. I am thinking that I am lucky to know the skill levels of my kiddos & where I left off with them. I know they will have a little bit of the summer slide, but I'm hoping that they at least remember my routines.

You can click the pics to take you to the products!
This is the math pack that compliments the literacy pack. I am thinking that this one will work kiddos were awesome mathematicians in K.

I am SUPER-DOG-DUPER excited about using these writing journals with my first graders!
I use them with kinders at the end of the year once they are pretty good, I am thinking that these will be so fun to use with my first graders right from the get go!!
I have had TONS of requests for these!!
I am almost finished with them & will be posting them soon!
This set will be for KINDERGARTEN.

I am also working on making FIRST GRADE math journals!
My kids loved them so much last year that I want to keep them going this year!!

Make sure that you are following my FaceBook Page...let's just say that there may be something really awesome happening really soon...
That is all I am sayin'!!!
